RR Donnelley Q4 beats Street on high volumes

Printing services firm RR Donnelley & Sons posted better-than-expected quarterly profit as it reported an increase in volumes of logistics services and printing, but continued to struggle with pricing pressure and acquisition-related costs.

The company posted a fourth-quarter net income of $27 million, or 13 cents a share, attributable to common shareholders, compared with a net loss of $79.5 million, or 39 cents a share a year ago. Get the full story »

R. R. Donnelley teams up with L.L. Bean

Chicago printing services company R. R. Donnelley said Tuesday that it would team up with mail-order retail giant L.L. Bean to produce a full line of catalogs.

R.R. Donnelley buys 8touches, terms not given

Printing services company R. R. Donnelley & Sons has bought 8-touches, a provider of online tools that help real estate brokers and other marketers create direct mail, flyers and brochures.

FTC clears R.R. Donnelley’s acquisition of Browne

R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. said it has been told by the Federal Trade Commission that the agency’s investigation of the Chicago-based company’s proposed acquisition of Bowne & Co. has been closed and that it plans no further action.

The companies say they soon expect to complete the $481 million deal, which was announced in February.

Donnelley is a communications company founded 146 years ago. Based in New York, Bowne’s business lines include preparing and filing regulatory and shareholder communications online and in print.

R.R. Donnelley takes fewer charges, earnings rise

R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. said its third-quarter earnings rose more than quadrupled, as the printing company took smaller charges for restructuring and other special items. The company reported net income of $53.3 million, or 25 cents a diluted share, compared with $13.1 million, or 6 cents a diluted share, a year ago. The quarter included charges totaling $48.7 million, down from $131.7 million a year earlier. Get the full story »

Donnelley snags Harvard Business Review

R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co.  said Monday that it has been awarded a contract to produce the  Harvard Business Review, the flagship magazine of Harvard Business Publishing. Donnelley wins SourceMedia contract

Printing services company R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. said Wednesday that it was awarded a multiyear contract to produce magazines and provide digital and commercial printing services for SourceMedia.
