Boeing readies flight training for Dreamliner

Boeing Co. said on Monday that it had gotten approval from regulators in several countries for flight training campuses for its 787 Dreamliner, which is due for first delivery this year.

The world’s second-largest plane-maker after EADS unit Airbus said its Dreamliner training devices — including flight simulators — were ready to be used with training courses. The company has training courses in Seattle, Singapore, Tokyo, London and Shanghai. Get the full story »

Caterpillar CEO sees compensation quadruple

An Associated Press review has found that Caterpillar quadrupled CEO Doug Oberhelman’s compensation last year when he took over the top job, but his $10.4 million package was less than half what the retiring chief executive received.

Oberhelman became CEO last summer and added the chairman title later after Jim Owens retired. Owens’ compensation more than tripled in 2010 to $22.5 million, mostly from a stock grant worth $16 million. Get the full story »

The 2012 New Beetle, the car that Oprah Winfrey gave away to her audience back in November, is finally ready to show itself in public. The car was unveiled Monday at events held simultaneously in New York City and Shanghai.

Talk show host Oprah Winfrey gave 275 of the cars to her studio audience as part of an “Oprah’s Favorite Things“ promotion. Volkswagen donated the cars for the promotion. Get the full story »
