Liquor could be sold from pushcarts at the city’s two major airports under a measure proposed today by Mayor Richard Daley. The plan: To create a new type of liquor license allowing “the sale of alcoholic liquor from pushcarts within authorized areas at O’Hare and Midway,” according to the ordinance. The beer and liquor pushcarts would be located beyond the security checkpoints at passenger terminals.

Boeing to boost 737 production
Associated Press | Boeing Co said Tuesday it would increase the production rate on its
narrow-body 737 model to 35 planes per month in early 2012. The
production rate increase is the second announced for the hot-selling,
single-aisle plane this year.
Delta to offer New York-Chicago flights every hour
Associated Press | Delta Air Lines said that on Monday it will launch hourly shuttle service, with 11 flights each weekday, between New York’s LaGuardia and Chicago O’Hare International airports.
Delta, the world’s largest airline, was operating nine flights daily between LaGuardia and Chicago’s Midway and three between New York’s JFK airport and O’Hare.
‘Legend of Flight’ crashes on PR run

Dreamliner and other iconic aircraft went awry Tuesday morning when a
vintage Boeing aircraft buzzing downtown Washington, D.C., crashed after
landing.
The 1940s-era Boeing Stearman PT17 biplane, featured in the film,
“Legends of Flight,” flipped on its back as it touched down at Reagan
National Airport, a not so uncommon event in the early days of flight.
Boeing gets $1.7B slice of air-traffic control pie
Dow Jones Newswires | Boeing Co. (BA) said Thursday that its
subcontracting team won a U.S. research and development support contract
valued at up to $1.7 billion for upgrading the nation’s air traffic
management system.
Altogether the Federal Aviation Administration has handed out about $4.4
billion in contracts to install a satellite-based traffic management
system in the next decade. Two more contracts are expected to be awarded
under the Next Generation Air Transportation System program, or
NextGen, which has a $7 billion ceiling, making it the largest set of
awards in FAA history.
Key lawmaker opposes United-Continental merger

| Politicians and CEOs celebrated the $3 billion merger agreement between United and Continental Airlines this morning at Willis Tower, where United CEO Glenn Tilton told Mayor Richard Daley, “Chicago just got a whole lot more competitive.”
The gathering at Willis Tower, where the merged airline’s operations will be headquartered, included Tilton, Daley, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, and Continental CEO Jeff Smisek, as well as members of the Chamber of Commerce and dozens of news crews from across the country.

Hertz to buy Dollar Thrifty in $1.2B deal
Associated Press | Hertz Global Holdings Inc., the world’s
largest car rental company, said Monday it has agreed to buy rival
Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group for about $1.17 billion in cash and
stock. Hertz said the deal will give it an additional 1,550 additional
locations, boosting its total to 9,800. It said it will boost its
leisure rental business in Europe and elsewhere.

Associated Press | Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said
Thursday that he has turned down requests from five airlines for
temporary exemptions to a rule against keeping passengers waiting longer
than three hours on airport tarmacs.
The new rule takes effect April 29. The department has said airlines may
be fined up to $27,500 per passenger for each violation of the rule.
United to add non-stop flights to LaGuardia
By Kiah Haslett | United Airlines announced it is adding several non-stop flights from its Chicago hub to New York LaGuardia and Pensacola, Fla., as well as a daily roundtrip between Houston and its Los Angeles hub.
The daily roundtrip between O’Hare International Airport and LaGuardia begins June 9. The eastbound flight will depart at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in New York at 11:42 a.m. The westbound flight will depart at 12:30 p.m. and arrive in Chicago at 2:04 p.m. Initially, the service will be offered by United Express. On Aug. 24, United will take over the route and could operate as many as 18 flights a day between the airports.
Chicago plans sale of $1.17B in O’Hare bonds
