UK clothier Topshop to open store in Chicago

Topshop, the hipster clothing chain, is coming to the Mag Mile.The British retailer plans to open a store on North Michigan Avenue next spring, marking its second outpost in the U.S., according to a Monday report in Women’s Wear Daily.

The 30,000-square-foot store will be located next to Filene’s Basement and is slated to open next June, said British businessman and owner Sir Philip Green in an interview. The fashion chain joins rivals H&M and Zara and Forever 21 on Chicago’s famous shopping boulevard.

Topshop opened its first U.S. store in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan in 2009. The retailer is scouting for locations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Las Vegas, the report said.
