Reuters | EU antitrust regulators have still to decide whether to extend by more than a month their review of Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever’s $1.3 billion acquisition of Sara Lee Corp’s personal care brands.
EU antitrust chief Joaquin Almunia said on Thursday that contrary to
media reports, the European Commission, responsible for competition
policy in the 27-nation bloc, had not made a decision on the case.
“I read yesterday that both Unilever and Sara Lee had anticipated what
we have not yet decided. Once we have a decision, I will communicate to
all of you,” Almunia told a news briefing.
