Burger King to start selling ribs at its restaurants

By Wailin Wong | Ribs at Burger King? Sure. The fast food chain is introducing bone-in ribs in three serving sizes at participating restaurants this week.

The “BK Fire-Grilled Ribs” are the result of new product development
around the company’s “game-changing broiler,” John Schaufelberger,
senior vice president of global product marketing and innovation, said
in a statement.

The ribs “are just the beginning of the innovative product line we can offer with this new cooking platform,” Schaufelberger added.

The ribs, which are accompanied by a barbeque dipping sauce, come in a three-piece serving that can be tacked onto a value meal for $1.99. Without the meal, the three-piece serving costs $2.99. More spendthrifty eaters can get six pieces for $5.69 or eight pieces for $7.19, according to Burger King.

There’s no charge for extra napkins, apparently.

Good job Burger King! I hope they keep the pressure on nasty *** MCDonalds!

    Yet more calories and fat.

    Two thoughts:
    1: I guess we’ll all have to watch for drivers with slippery sauce-covered fingers that purchased the ribs via the drive-thru window and can’t control their vehicles, and;
    2. Shall we set odds on how much time will pass between the introduction of this item and the first lawsuit for swallowing a rib bone?
    Yikes.

Not a very competitive price, a buck a rib.
Applebee’s sells a full rack (~14 ribs) for $16.99. That’s $1.20 per rib, including slaw, fries, and table service.

    They still use the broiler?
Last time I went to BK, they just used a microwave.

Oops, I take back what I said about the price. By the time you buy a full rack at BK, it’s a pretty good deal.

Yes, because it’s a hated fast-food restaurant, ANY amount of calories and fat are worth complaining about, aren’t they? Many other restaurants also offer ribs, probably even ones you might visit. Do you complain about them there too?
If you’re worried about calories and fat, don’t buy the ribs for yourself or your kids, but stop whining about options presented to people who are capable of balancing their families’ diets.

Food Chains and bbq, yuck. Knowing Burger King and its quality, its gotta be craptastic!

I tried these ribs earlier this week at a BK in Pontiac, IL and they were much better than I expected. They are small, not too much meat on the bones, but still pretty darn tasty. Of course, if you are BBQ connnoisseur, BK will never be able to satify you. But, its nice to have a little diversity on the menu.

Three sizes: mildly obese, moderately obese, and severely obese.
Michelle Obama, listen up. You want to solve the childhood obesity problem? Start with the food supply!

Doesn’t have to be a hated fast-food restaurant. Unfortunately, people who are capable of balancing their families diets are far and few between.
The good thing is that this generation of kids is so unhealthy and their parents are not much better, so they won’t be such a drain to social security.

No ‘wake up’. Start with the PARENTS who’ve largely given up their own responsibilities raising their own kids in favor of letting “the village” idiots raise them.

    OK,
So the micro-managerial people lost their battle agaist Ronald
Whole new issue to get “news” time.
    And lots of donations.
    Sigh …

I just the new Burger King ribs today, and they were pretty damn good for the price.

Is it just in the States, or is it/will it be available in Canada?

Ribs are tasty (or can be)! I doubt the occasional 3-piece or even rack will knock a normal weight into obesity. It’s all about balance… Good point about BBQ sance and driving though!

I had the ribs today. I gotta say they were really good. I would like to find out the nutrition facts just out of curiosity though.

Just like any food in or out of the fast food chain world it’s all about moderation. It’s not the fast food chains fault if we choose to and allow our families to dine there too often. Besides there’s nothing stopping most people from leaving a Burger King and going down to the local park to walk off some of those calories and carbs…most simply choose not to.
For the person who wanted nutrition info, I am not sure how accurate this is but this is what I found
