Drug and medical device maker Baxter International Inc. spent $930,000 to lobby on health-care related issues in the third quarter, according to a disclosure form. MillerCoors spent $680,000 lobbying govt. in 2Q

MillerCoors LLC spent $680,000 in the second quarter to lobby the federal government on glass and aluminum recycling, advertising and other matters, according to a recent disclosure report. That’s up almost 39 percent from the $490,000 it spent in the year-ago period and 31 percent the $520,000 that the brewer spent in the first quarter of 2010.

Illinois hospitals install first D.C. lobbyist

The Illinois Hospital Association today named long-time Democratic congressional aide Kimberly C. Parker as its first vice president of federal relations, opening the powerful state lobby’s first-ever office in Washington, D.C.

As health reform is implemented during the next four years, IHA said it wanted a stronger presence in Washington. Hospitals in Illinois are particularly concerned about rates they are paid by the Medicaid health insurance program for the poor, which is funded partly from federal dollars but also from state coffers that are bleeding red ink. United Airlines spent $660,000 lobbying in 1Q

United Airlines spent $660,000 in the first quarter lobbying on high-profile aviation regulation issues like rules for dealing with stranded passengers, rest for airline pilots, and restrictions on using personal electronics in the cockpit. The lobbying disclosure by United covers the first three months of this year. During the first quarter of 2009 it spent $600,000 on lobbying.

Boeing spent $4.1M lobbying government in 1Q

Airplane maker and defense contractor Boeing Co. spent more than $4.1 million in the first quarter to lobby the federal government on aerospace and defense issues, according to a recent disclosure report.

The lobbying tab was 69 percent higher than the $2.4 million Boeing spent on lobbying during the first quarter of 2009.

Allstate spent almost $1.1M lobbying government

Associated Press via Bloomberg | Allstate Corp. spent $1.08 million in the first quarter to lobby the federal government on consumer protection rights, health care and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report. That’s up 21.3 percent from the $890,000 it spent in the year-ago period, and up from the $650,000 it spent in the fourth quarter of 2009.
