Honk if you want to stop your 2011 Jetta

Volkswagen of America is recalling about 71,000 2011 Jetta sedans for a wiring problem that could cause the car to turn off when the horn is used.

Under certain rare circumstances using the horn could cause a short circuit that would, in turn, cause an electronic part called a converter box to disconnect from the car’s power supply, a VW spokeswoman said. Get the full story »

GM recalls Cadillac CTS sedans for wheel problem

General Motors Co. is recalling over 44,000 Cadillac CTS sedans over a flaw that could cause one of the rear wheels to become unstable.

Federal-Mogul recall affects 1995-2006 Chryslers

Federal-Mogul Corp. is recalling 22,689 replacement control arm assemblies in certain older model Chrysler vehicles after it found a fault that could cause vehicles to crash.

The Michigan-based auto parts supplier said a part of the assembly, a ball stud, could wear through the assembly housing, causing the driver to lose steering control, according to a  notice filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Get the full story »

Cadillac recalling CTS to replace air-bag sensor

General Motors Co. is recalling nearly 96,000 Cadillac CTS cars for the model years 2005 to 2007 because a front passenger air-bag sensor could break and disable the bag.

Repeated “flexing” of the passenger sensing system mat in the front seat could cause the mat to “kink, bend or fold,” GM said according to a notice posted on U.S. safety regulators’ Web site Thursday. Get the full story »

GM recalls 111K Equinox, Terrain and SRX SUVs

General Motors Co. said Friday that it is recalling about 111,000 Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX small SUVss because the anchor to the seat-belt buckle may fail, which could lead to injury in a crash.

Honda to recall 734K Fits over headlight defect

Honda Motor Co. will recall 734,392 Fit subcompact cars because of defective headlights, according to a report filed Thursday with Japan’s transportation ministry.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transportation and Tourism, Honda will recall vehicles produced between November 2001 and October 2007. It’s the ninth-biggest recall since the reporting system began in 1969. Get the full story »
