Craigslist says it won’t resume adult services section

A Craigslist official told lawmakers Wednesday that the classified ad website has no plans to resume its adult services section and defended the company’s efforts to stop the sexual exploitation of minors.

But William Clinton Powell also told a House Judiciary Committee panel that people seeking to advertise adult — or sexual — services will now simply migrate to other Internet sites.

States demand Craigslist drop ‘adult services’

State attorneys general nationwide are demanding that Craigslist remove its adult services section because they say the site cannot adequately block potentially illegal ads.

Attorneys general from 17 states, including Connecticut, Illinois,  Ohio and Missouri, announced Tuesday that they have sent a joint letter calling on the classified advertising site to get rid of its adult services category. Get the full story »
