FedEx Corp. on Thursday signed an agreement to acquire Mexican express-package-delivery company MultiPack, allowing the FedEx Express business unit to enhance its capabilities in the Mexican domestic-delivery market.
FedEx did not provide further details on the deal, but expects to close the acquisition during the second quarter of 2011, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions. Get the full story »

The Obama administration on Monday proposed the first fuel efficiency and emissions standards for big tractor trailors and other commercial trucks that run mainly on diesel fuel.
The joint Transportation Department and Environmental Protection Agency initiative covers a range of vehicles from delivery vans to long-haul rigs and is expected to cut nearly 250 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the lifespans of vehicles produced within the program’s first five years. FedEx Corp. raised its outlook for the year and the quarter Monday, citing better-than-anticipated volume growth in its Express and Ground business.
Memphis, Tenn.-based FedEx said it now sees its fiscal 2011 earnings in the range of $4.60 to $5.20 per share, up from its previous forecast of $4.40 to $5 per share.
For the first quarter ending Aug. 31, FedEx said it sees earnings of $1.05 per share to $1.25 per share, up from 85 cents per share to $1.05 per share previously.
