Obama vows to dampen fuel prices

The United States must reduce its dependence on oil and begin to reform energy policy, President Barack Obama said on Friday, pledging to do all he could to keep gasoline prices low.

Obama, whose prospects for re-election in 2012 may hinge partly on fuel prices and their effect on the economy, said the world could manage oil supply disruptions stemming from unrest in Libya and violence across the Middle East and North Africa.

He said he was prepared to tap U.S. strategic oil reserves quickly if necessary, though he declined to say what price oil would have to hit in order to trigger such intervention.

The White House has emphasized repeatedly that Obama is aware of the strain that rising fuel prices place on Americans’ budgets. The White House rejects criticism from Republicans that its policies have led to less domestic oil production — a theme that may surface in the 2012 campaign.

Defending his policies and promising more action, Obama told a news conference that domestic production alone is not the answer to U.S. energy woes.

What nonsense! There is a vast amount of oil in this country that can be recovered safely. It would reduce our need to import from the middle east and Venezuela, create thousands of high paying American jobs and generate billions in new tax revenue.

Instead, Obama clings to his ridiculous dream of “green energy” that takes enormous federal subsidies to have any chance of being developed. This is a complete waste of resources and flies in the face of real world economics. But then Obama knows nothing about the real world or real jobs. We can only hope he is a one term President before he completely destroys this country and everything it stands for.

Hey BO, keep your hands in your pockets while world markets make the adjustments necessary to put fuel prices where the consumer can handle them. It’s happening right now and you’ll, undoubtedly, take credit for it. Lame.

BO is proving to the American people that he cannot lead us in a time of crisis. Fuel cost, home mortgages and the general decline in our standard of living is very evident during his watch.
Please American people one term is all we can afford, he’s got to go. I only hope and pray the Republican Party can run a qualified candidate to defeat BO.
God bless the United States of America.

When we look at our fuel needs it’s all about balance and sustainability of commerce. The industrial complex of gas and oil is based on the old system and needs to be improved to 21th stantards. How do we get a balance???????????????
