Walgreens said its same-store in January increased 6.1 percent, led by a 6.9 percent rise in same-store pharmacy sales. Pharmacy sales accounted for two-thirds of Walgreen’s total sales of $5.93 billion in January.
Non-pharmacy same-store sales increased 4.5 percent, as customer traffic increased 2.4 percent. Same-store sales compare drugstores that have been open for at least a year.
Duane Reade stores, acquired in April, are not included in same-store results.
