Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. has acquired a Mountainview, Calif.-based company that makes the Android mobile operating system secure for business environments.
The acquisition will help Motorola sell more Android smart phones to business customers, a realm traditionally dominated by Research In Motion’s BlackBerry. Three Laws Mobility Inc., or 3LM, is a developer of security software and other products for Android.
“With 3LM, we are excited to be able to work across the Android ecosystem to accelerate the adoption of Android devices by corporate users and their (information technology) departments,” Christy Wyatt, Motorola’s corporate vice president of software and services product management.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Motorola said other mobile device manufacturers will also be able to use 3LM’s software. The newly acquired company will operate as a business unit within Motorola.
