Quaker Foods and Snacks North America, the Chicago-based division of PepsiCo, has tapped Jose Luis Prado as its new president.

Prado replaces Jaya Kumar, who will lead PepsiCo’s Global Nutrition Group, which is based in Chicago. Kumar served as president of Quaker for one year. Before that, he was senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Frito-Lay.

Prado was previously president of Gamesa-Quaker Mexico, a $1 billion division with 15,000 employees. Prado led Quaker’s integration with Frito-Lay International after PepsiCo bought the company, nearly a decade ago, according to the company. He is also credited with launching “Vive Saludable,” an initiative that encourages healthy lifestyles in Mexico and Latin America.

Quaker praised Prado’s experience in international markets, and his role in launching health-and-wellness initiatives.

Prado has been with PepsiCo since 1984, in a variety of positions, including president of Frito-Lay snacks in the Caribbean and president of PepsiCo Snacks in Argentina/Uruguay.
