Kraft Foods Inc. has sued India’s Britannia Industries Ltd. in an Indian court over trademark and copyright violations of its Oreo cookies brand, the Economic Times reported Wednesday.
U.S.-based Kraft has filed the suit in the Delhi High Court, saying that Britannia’s Treat-O biscuit is a copy of its cream-filled sandwich cookies, the report said, citing a copy of the court filing.
The report said a Britannia spokesperson declined to comment on the issue, saying the company has not received any communication on the issue.
