Sears Holdings Corp. signed a deal with retailer Work ‘N Gear to operate uniforms shops inside Sears and Kmart stores.

The shops, called Scrubology, are range from 600 to 1,500 square feet and sell uniforms for healthcare professionals including doctors, nurses, veterinarians and lab technicians.

Ten Scrubology in-store shops opened in November, including one at Sears at Fox Valley Mall in Aurora. The other shops are located at Sears and Kmart stores in Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The companies said they plan to roll out more Scrubology locations at Sears and Kmart stores in 2011.

Work “N Gear, based in Quincy, Mass., is the largest retail chain in the U.S. specializing in work apparel and uniforms for workers in the industrial, service and health care fields.

Sears Holdings, the Hoffman Estates-based parent of Sears and Kmart, has been looking to rent space within its stores to make more productive use of its real estate. Earlier this year, Sears signed a deal with Florida-based Edwin Watts Golf Shops LLC to operate shops inside a dozen Sears stores.
