Apple Inc. allowed personal information from users of applications for its iPad and iPhone devices to be transmitted to advertising networks without the users’ knowledge, according to a lawsuit brought against the technology giant last week, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday.

The suit was filed Dec. 23 in San Jose, Calif., on behalf of Jonathan Lalo of Los Angeles County and cites the applications Pandora, Paper Toss, the Weather Channel and Dictionary.com as defendants.

A spokesman for Apple didn’t immediately reply to Bloomberg’s requests for comment.
