Apple will make three versions of the next iteration of the iPad, according to Taiwanese tech site DigiTimes.

The site, citing unnamed industry sources, reports the new tablet will come in WiFi-only, WiFi-and-UMTS and WiFi-and-CDMA models. UMTS and CDMA are competing wireless technologies used by mobile phone carriers around the world.

AAPL is also working on anti-smudge and anti-reflective treatments for the iPad’s screen  to compete against Amazon.com’s  Kindle e-reader, site says.

DigiTimes also cited sources forecasting AAPL to ship 40M iPad 2 units. Apple did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
