Two days after the head of its European business unexpectedly resigned, McDonald’s Corp. found his replacement.

Steve Easterbrook, the burger chain’s global chief brand officer, will become president of McDonald’s Europe on Dec. 1. He succeeds Denis Hennequin, who resigned Wednesday to become chief executive officer of Accor Hotels Group.

Easterbrook, 43, has been with the company for 16 years and has previously served as CEO of its United Kingdom division and also oversaw operations in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Ireland.

McDonald’s Europe has more than 6,800 restaurants in 39 countries.
