A Sony laptop with a Blu-ray drive or a 50-inch Sanyo plasma television set could be yours for $500 on Black Friday if you’re willing to get up early, according to a Consumer Reports round-up of this weekend’s best gadget deals.
The publication picked its top Black Friday finds in 10 categories of consumer electronics. The Sony laptop is one of Best Buy’s doorbuster deals and includes “The Karate Kid” on Blu-ray, antivirus software and a case. But the window is tight: Each Best Buy location has just 10 of these $499.99 units, and shoppers must have a ticket, which the stores will start distributing vouchers at 3 a.m. on Friday morning.
The 50-inch Sanyo plasma TV will be at Wal-Mart for $498, compared with its regular price of $648. Wal-Mart stores will open at 5 a.m. The retailer also has the best deal on 32-inch LCD sets, according to Consumer Reports, with an Emerson unit going for $198 on Black Friday.
