Mitchell C. Berk has been named chief executive of Hilco Consumer Capital LLC, a brand management firm with Polaroid, Sharper Image and Halston among its clients.
Berk takes over from interim CEO Eric Kaup, who is general counsel for parent, Northbrook-based Hilco Trading.
Most recently, Berk founded and ran Vortex LLC, a strategic consulting and capital provider for media and marketing in the consumer products, sports and music fields.
Earlier he founded Entertainment Marketing Inc., a sports, entertainment and lifestyle marketing company with clients including Anheuser-Busch, General Mills and Tim McGraw.
“I see enormous potential for Mitch Berk to extend our current brands into new sectors through creative licensing arrangements and acquisitions of iconic brands,” Hilco Trading CEO Jeffrey B. Hecktman said in a statement.
Together, Hilco Trading and Hilco Capital have revenue of around $2 billion.
