By Wailin Wong | Fried chicken chain KFC is extending the life of its controversial and
cholesterol-filled Double Down sandwich past the promotion’s scheduled
end date of May 23.
The company said it is keeping the sandwich on the menu because of high
demand. It expects to sell its ten-millionth Double Down later this
month. The sandwich skips the bun, instead putting bacon, cheese and
sauce in between two pieces of chicken.
The Double Down attracted a huge amount of buzz in traditional and social media in advance of its April 12 release date. (The Tribune’s Kevin Pang called it “plain gross” and “unfathomably salty,” although he noted that its calorie and fat content is lower than that of a Burger King Whopper.)
Javier Benito, KFC’s executive vice president of marketing and food innovation, said “millions of Double Down fans have spoken and we won’t disappoint them.”
The company said the sandwich will be available through the summer, but did not say whether the item would remain on the menu indefinitely.
i tried one of these sandwiches and it was pretty good – i did break it into two sandwiches and added bread. i would order it again. it was a little salty though
For those people offended by this “sandwich,” here’s an idea: don’t buy them or eat them. And for those who argue that food like this raises health care costs for everyone, consider that so does motorcycle riding, having children, using bluetooth cell phones, skydiving, and about a million other things. It’s an awfully slippery slope when you start trying to outlaw everything that increases health care costs.
eat up you fat bastards..!
I need to go back to work and pay for your end life care…
Curious to try it, but I’m a chick. So, I’ve been trying to convince my younger brothers to try it and then, I’ll just snag a bite.
Folks:
“Jungle” Jim Rivera use to eat turkey legs wrapped in bacon and he lived to 97 years old. Take it for what its worth.

Somebody at work bought a few. She was eating one, but was hating it. She asked me if I wanted one. I told her “how much would you give ME to take it off your hands”. The most disgusting and obnoxious “food” since the fried donut sandwich. As a libertarian, I believe the government should keep out of our lives, but in this case I make an exception. This thing is just plain evil, nasty and vile. Yeeeeech!

I ‘d like a Double Down with a side of Lipitor and the complimentary angioplasty.
I say get over it! Coz simply it all comes down to your choice and if you eat it, then you eat it and if you dont, you dont!
