Dynegy warns of bankruptcy, names 4 directors

Dynegy Inc. warned it could seek bankruptcy protection if it cannot amend or replace its existing loan facility, the latest twist in the power company’s bumpy effort to restructure itself.

Nasdaq, IntercontinentalExchange may team up

Nasdaq OMX Group is scrambling to respond to Deutsche Boerse AG’s $10.2 billion takeover of NYSE Euronext, and may team up with IntercontinentalExchange Inc, Fox Business Network said.

Nasdaq has hired an investment bank and has discussed launching a joint bid for NYSE with Chicago-based CME Group, the report said. The deal to team up with ICE had not gone to Nasdaq’s board of directors as of Tuesday, the report said.

It was unclear whether the report was referring to a potential Nasdaq merger with ICE, or to a possible joint bid for NYSE. Get the full story »

4 HP directors step down amid Hurd controversy

Four members of Hewlett-Packard’s board of directors are stepping down six months after CEO Mark Hurd was forced to resign in the wake of a sexual harassment scandal.

The departures come as Hewlett-Packard Co., the world’s biggest technology company by revenue, is under fire for its handling of Hurd’s ouster and the size of his severance payout.
