Enbridge’s 670,000 barrel a day Line 6A oil pipeline in the U.S. Midwest is expected to run at reduced rates until early next week, creating another costly bottleneck for Canadian crude exports, the company said on Friday.
An outage at a power utility’s substation in Illinois forced Enbridge, which has been struggling with numerous outages on its massive oil pipeline system, to reduce flows as electricity to a pumping station got cut off.

The Illinois attorney general sued Enbridge Inc.’s U.S. affiliate Enbridge Energy Partners Thursday, as the state seeks to have the company pay the costs to clean up an oil pipeline spill last month.
Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan and James Glasgow, the state’s attorney for Will County, filed an eight-count complaint against the company. Get the full story »

The company behind a pipeline leak this month near Chicago estimates it will cost up to $60 million to clean up the area where hundreds of thousands of gallons of oil spilled.
Enbridge Energy Partners LP said Wednesday its estimate of $40 million to $60 million doesn’t include potential penalties. It said insurance money should reduce the total charge for the cleanup to $10 million to $15 million. Get the full story »

Enbridge Energy Partners said it has finished repairs on its line 6A pipeline shut down last week due to a leak in a Chicago suburb and plans to restore service Friday morning.
The company said the leak was stopped Sunday evening after it found a hole in the 34-inch pipe in an industrial area of Romeoville. Enbridge said 6,100 barrels of crude oil were released during the spill, and only a small portion escaped from the immediate area before its crews began vacuuming up the oil. Get the full story »
