Daily deals provider LivingSocial has launched its Family Edition in Chicago’s western suburbs, offering discounts on kid-friendly activities.

LivingSocial, headquartered in Washington, D.C. has nearly 26 million subscribers and is considered Chicago-based Groupon’s biggest rival in the daily deals space. The company launched Family Edition in September 2010 and has developed a niche in the travel deals segment through its Escapes offering.

Chicago’s western suburbs are one of three new U.S. marketsĀ  Family Edition announced Monday. The others are Omaha, Neb., and Syracuse, N.Y. Family Edition is now live in 46 markets and four countries, Chief Executive Tim O’Shaughnessy said in a statement.

The current Family Edition deal for the western suburbs is a 50 percent discount off of a summer class at GreenApple Campus in Naperville.
