Silicon Valley Bank makes Chicago hire

Silicon Valley Bank has hired John Hoesley, a board member of the Illinois Venture Capital Association, to run its Midwest private equity and venture capital services group in Chicago.

The Santa Clara, Calif., lender, which says it works with more than half of the world’s venture capital firms. provides deposit, credit, foreign exchange and analytical services, as well as financing for portfolio companies, including those in the technology, life science and premium wine industries

Hoesley joins Silicon Valley after 10 years with Prism Capital in Chicago, where he was a partner and launched the firm’s healthcare practice. Previously, he was chief financial officer of Legato Partners, and he co-founded Evincio Corp., provider of data management software.

Hoesley has a bachelor’s in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s in management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Silicon Valley Bank is part of publicly traded SVB Financial Group.
