A nonprofit watchdog group is planning a series of clinics next week in the Chicago area to help consumers save money on their phone bills. The Citizens Utility Board is holding the clinics at libraries in Glenview, Morton Grove, Frankfort and Cary. Consumers can bring along their phone bills for a free analysis.

Information on how to register is on the Citizens Utility Board website. Look for the link that says “Spring Savings Week.”

CUB’s new video, “60 Seconds to Phone Savings,” can be seen on YouTube. It explains the top tips to cut landline phone bills.

A 2009 CUB study showed that Illinois telephone users could be overpaying by $1 billion a year.
