Vibes Media, a Chicago-based mobile marketing company, has teamed with the Chicago Bulls basketball team to develop a mobile marketing campaign that allows fans to text in to receive real-time game updates, scores and player statistics on their mobile phones.
The live game scores are pulled directly from the National Basketball Association’s game feed and distributed via text messages to fans who text SCORE to BULLS (28557) during games. Fans can also get real-time statistic updates on players by texting a player’s last name to BULLS.
The service, slated to be unveiled today, has been operating in pilot mode since Feb. 14 with more than 4,000 unique users.
“We’ve recently seen an explosion in SMS text messaging, as industry experts predict that over 2 trillion messages will be sent in the US in 2011,” said Jack Philbin, Vibes co-founder and president. “As a result, more brands are taking advantage of mobile to connect with consumers because your mobile phone is your most personal device, and it gives users information immediately.”
Sounds like a nice campaign if it were 2005. Little outdated.
