Boeing commits $2M to Japan relief

Chicago-based Boeing Co. says the company will make a $2 million contribution to aid those affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The money will come from Boeing employees and The Boeing Company Charitable Trust. Boeing officials say contributions will go to the American Red Cross. Boeing CEO Jim McNerney says the company is “deeply moved by the strength and resolve of the Japanese people.”

The aerospace company says it has more than 200 employees in Japan. The massive disasters that are believed to have killed more than 10,000 people and battered the world’s third-largest economy.
