ADM chooses Dow Chemical exec to be COO

Agribusiness conglomerate Archer Daniels Midland Co. announced Monday that Dow Chemical executive Juan Luciano will be its new executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Luciano’s appointment to the newly created role, leading ADM’s global operations and commercial activities, takes effect April 12. Luciano will be a member of the company’s strategic planning committee and will report to Chairman, CEO and President Patricia Woertz and Vice Chairman John Rice.

Luciano has been an executive vice president of Dow Chemical Co. and president of its performance division. He has a degree in industrial engineering from the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology in Argentina.

Shares of Decatur, Ill.-based ADM rose 92 cents to end at $35.88 in trading Monday.
