Stericycle Inc. said its fourth-quarter earnings increased 12 percent, as sales at the medical-waste disposal company jumped 25 percent.
Net income in the period was $50 million, or 57 cents a share, up from $44.6 million, or 52 cents a share, a year ago. Revenues rose to $393.5 million, from $313.5 million. Acquisitions in the past 12 months contributed about $32.5 million in revenues.
For the full year, Lake Forest-based Stericycle said net income was $207.8 million, or $2.39 a share, up from $175.7 million, or $2.03 a share in 2009.
Revenues rose 22 percent to $1.44 billion, from $1.18 billion in 2009.
The company’s news release did not provide any explanation for the increase in revenues and net income.
