Smashburger opens first Chicago-area restaurant

    I don’t know about Smashburger, but a Five Guys just opened next to a Shake and Steak and 1/4 mile from Meatheads. Other than Five Guys giving you free peanuts (which should be good for business from those who have allergies), I didn’t see any difference from Meatheads.

    Maybe all these burger joints can make a go of it, but the owners are sure taking a risk.

    The Batavia location opened in early December, almost two months ago. This is not breaking news.
