ELITE STREET | By Bob Goldsborough | The 11-room Lakeview mansion that Grammy-winning R&B singer R. Kelly once owned underwent a significant price cut on Monday, from $3.89
million to $3.5 million.
Built in 1885 as a church but converted in the early 1980s to a private residence with a large lofted living room overlooking an indoor lap pool, the four-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot mansion was owned by Kelly from the time he bought it for $1.107 million in 1994 until he sold it for $2.25 million in 2002.
The mansion’s current owner is a woman who purchased it out of foreclosure in 2008 for exactly $1 million. Kelly, meanwhile, now lives in a 20,000-square-foot mansion on 7 acres in Olympia Fields that he built in the late 1990s.
Features in the Lakeview mansion, which its current owner recently renovated, include 6-1/2 baths, two fireplaces, a mezzanine level with a family room, a 1,600 gallon shark tank, a 1,500-square-foot roof deck with a complete kitchen and fireplace, and a full knotty pine spa room.
The house came on the market last June for $3.89 million. It also is available for rent for $20,000 a month.
hope they give it a good ol’ scrubbing——would want to wash my hands after viewing the place.
A 1,600-gallon shark tank is a nice amenity, but is there parking?!
The prospective buyer knowing the current owner only paid 1 mil. 2 years ago will never get even close to 3.5 mil. Seems greedy to me.
Why isn’t he in prison?
He is not in jail because he has money to buy the best lawyer around!
@rod – there’s some article around that I read from a guy who toured the house a couple years ago (before the most recent renovation), he was told then that the floors had already been replaced.
Hey, Elvis was never prosecuted for molesting 14 year old Priscilla Beaulieu and other underage girls!
some of you are so ignorant. Don’t be hates because this man is so talented and successful.
