Chick-fil-A follows biscuit success with spicy nuggets

Cox News Service | Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A says diners reserved nearly 1 million free spicy breakfast biscuits on getspicychicken.com, starting on Dec. 27. Some stores ended the promotion on Jan. 1, while others continued it until Jan. 8.

The biscuit went on sale on Monday.

Chick-fil-A is trying to tap into the “enormous fan club” that has sprung up around the company’s spicy chicken sandwich, said Woody Faulk, vice president of brand strategy and design.

Faulk said building a spicy family of products was the plan since before Chick-fil-A’s spicy sandwich came out in June. The company is testing spicy nuggets in markets including Denver and Baltimore and may make a decision on that product early this year.

“They write full page letters about their love affair with the (spicy) product,” Faulk told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution late last year. “They’ve written songs. It’s truly hit a nerve. We tapped into a group that we weren’t serving. In the land of Cocoa Puffs and Lucky Charms, there is this crowd out that says ’spicy for me.’ “‘
