U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said Thursday that any move to increase the United States’ $14.3 trillion debt limit must be accompanied by spending cuts.

“The American people will not stand for such an increase unless it is accompanied by meaningful action by the President and Congress to cut spending and end the job-killing spending binge in Washington,” Boehner said in a prepared statement.

Who prepared his statement? The cast of Jersey Shore? Wouldn’t spending cuts eliminate the need to increase the deficit limit? Wait, let me guess… He’s going to argue that we need to increase the deficit limit because it is necessary, in the short-run, to increase spending in these dire economic times. That way he can doll out favors in time for the general election and never have to put his neck on the line by actually getting our budget in order.

And since when did government spending raise the unemployment rate? Oh, sorry, he must have been speaking in broad economic terms. In that case, remind me how our budget got so out of whack in the first place? That’s right, some guy with an MBA thought we could topple foreign governments without sticking around to clean-up the mess.
