Chicago-based Northern Trust Corp. said Dennis Anosike has joined its corporate and institutional services unit as a leader of the group serving U.S. public pensions. Anosike comes to Northern from the U.S. Department of Commerce. He’s also former chief financial officer of the Chicago Transit Authority.

“We are pleased to bring Dennis Anosike’s knowledge and experience to our public pension fund clients,” Laurie Neu, Northern’s group head for public entities and institutions, said in a statement.

Public funds face many challenges, including low funding ratios and increasing regulation, she said.

At the U.S. Department of Commerce, Anosike served as senior director of management and performance and as senior advisor to the department’s CFO.

Earlier, at the Chicago Transit Authority, Anosike was CFO from 1998 to 2009. Previous jobs also include deputy budget director for the city of Chicago and finance director for the Chicago police department.
