Metropolitan Bank Group said it plans to merge Edens Bank, First Commercial Bank and Northwest Community Bank into North Community Bank and merge Community Bank of DuPage, Metropolitan Bank & Trust and Chicago Community Bank into Citizens Community Bank, which will be renamed Metrobank.

Each consolidated bank’s individual name will remain as a branch of the larger bank, Metropolitan said. Customers’ accounts and services will remain the same.

There are no plans to lay off employees or to close any banks or branches as a result of this consolidation.  Customers’ accounts and services will remain the same.

No plans to lay off? RIIIIIGHT. What other purpose would be behind a move that takes away from the community feel of the indepedently managed banks. Could it be the recent missed TARP payment due to shady business practices of the Owner of Metropolitan Bank Group? I THINK SO! DING DING DING DING!
