Long-time Rush University Medical Center executive Peter Butler was named president of the West Side academic medical center, the hospital’s top executive said.

Butler will continue in his role as chief operating officer and report to Dr. Larry Goodman, who is Rush University Medical Center’s chief executive officer and president of the hospital’s parent, Rush System for Health.

“I have made this change in recognition of the crucial role Peter has played since joining Rush,” Goodman said. “He has been a key leader in the campus Transformation, our increased focus on our mission, vision and values, Rush’s leadership development, and the stewardship of the Department of Health Systems Management, where he serves as chairman and associate professor.”
