United Airlines said its passenger traffic in July rose by 2.1 percent, with most of the gain coming from increased mainline traffic in its overseas markets and from its regional carriers.
While domestic traffic fell 4.2 percent, traffic rose 4.7 percent in the Pacific, 6.6 percent in the Atlantic and 13.5 percent in Latin America. Traffic from its regional affiliates gained 16.7 percent during July.
The Chicago-based carrier said capacity increased 1.8 percent last month, and 87.2 percent of its seats were filled, roughly the same amount as in July 2009.
United reported an on-time arrival rate of 82.9 percent in July.
