The parent company of Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago in Hammond, Ind., confirmed Wednesday it is exploring strategic alternatives, including a possible sale of the company.

The company said it retained Lazard and Bank of America Merrill Lynch as its financial advisers and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP as its legal adviser in the process.

The company operates seven other casinos in addition to the one in Hammond, which Ameristar acquired in September 2007.

Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago is located in East Chicago, Indiana, NOT Hammond. The Horseshoe Casino is in Hammond, Indiana.

Hate to tell you, but while the Horseshoe Casino claims that it is in Chicago and not Hammond, the Ameristar is actually in East Chicago, not Hammond. That is, unless Jeorse Park and Arcelor-Mittal (Inland) Steel have moved or Hammond has annexed East Chicago.
