Boeing Co said Thursday it took orders for four 737 narrowbody planes and lost one order for a 777 in the week ended Aug. 17.

Boeing, the world’s second largest commercial planemaker after EADS unit Airbus, said its net orders for 2010 so far number 258 compared with 142 commercial plane orders in 2009.

The 737s are potentially worth $348 million at list prices. The lost 777 order was worth up to $286.5 million at list prices.

Boeing did not name the customer or customers.

Boeing and Airbus saw orders decline in 2009 amid an economic recession that drained global travel demand and forced airlines to cut orders. The market is now in recovery mode, Boeing says.

Shares of Boeing, a Dow component, were down 2.3 percent at $64.50 on the New York Stock Exchange.

How can a smaller 737 be worth up to $348 million, but the larger 777 was $286.5 million? Oh, I forgot reporters just cut and paste, do not think anymore. Next please take the time to verify through Wikipedia or TMZ.

Jim; the article clearly states that Boeing lost the order for (4) 737’s for the contract total of $348m… simple math will get you to $87m each. So who is lazy now the reporter or you?
