Kraft Foods Inc. confirmed Monday it has laid off around 120 staff at the global headquarters of the Cadbury business it bought earlier this year for $17.78 billion.

A spokesman for the Chicago-based company said the global headquarters of Cadbury on the outskirts of London has now closed, with the loss of about 120 staff. Only around 50 of Cadbury’s global head office staff had been found new roles within Kraft, he said.

“There was never any secret there would only be one global head office,” he said.

The company made clear when it bought the U.K. confectioner in February that the global head office would close as Cadbury was fully integrated into Kraft. Further jobs have also been cut as Kraft as combined its U.K. business with that of Cadbury.

Said it back when they did the takeover, cuts are beginning and will continue as Kraft runs it into the ground to shore up their bottom line.
