More than $1 million in federal stimulus money is on its way to S&C Electric Company for products that improve the distribution of electricity. The projects are expected to create more than 300 jobs and retain 121 jobs. The money comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn announced the grant Thursday. The money also will help the Chicago-based company install a new green roof to reduce its own energy consumption.
S&C makes energy-efficient electrical switching and protection products, some of which connect renewable sources — like wind power — to the electric system.
The company is a global provider of equipment and services for electric power systems.
