Associated Press | Gold prices settled at a record high Thursday after disappointing economic news stirred up fresh concerns about the pace of the recovery. Gold for August delivery briefly topped $1,250 an ounce before settling up $18.20 to $1,248.70 an ounce. The previous record came June 8 when it settled at $1,245.60 an ounce after hitting $1,254.50 an ounce earlier that day.
