Associated Press | Former Boeing Co. director Edward Liddy has
rejoined the aerospace company’s board after serving as interim chairman
and chief executive of troubled insurance giant American International
Group Inc. at the request of the U.S. government.

Chicago-based Boeing announced Liddy’s return to the board Thursday.

Liddy, 64, has been chairman and CEO of Allstate Corp. and was on the Boeing board from August 2007 until October 2008, when he left to head AIG. The insurance and financial services firm needed a $180 billion government bailout in 2008 to survive.

Liddy finished working at AIG in August 2009 and rejoined private-equity firm Clayton, Dubillier & Rice in January, Boeing’s statement said.

Boeing shares added 72 cents, to $62.43, in afternoon trading
