From The Consumerist | Sears Holdings’ Kmart unit is testing an in-store laundromat concept called Kwash in an Iowa City store. the laundromat features free Wi-Fi and laundry drop-off. And, of course, customers have easy access to the attached Kmart store so they can shop during the spin cycle.

Not sure about Iowa City, but some of the folks in the local K-Mart could use an in-store SHOWER.

There’s a lot to be said for putting a laundromat in or near a low-end big box store– it makes the landromat more attractive (because laundromat customers can do something other than watch their clothes go ’round and ’round) and presumably the store gets some sales that might have gone elsewhere.
As long as your clothes don’t get stolen while you’re shopping …

i guess many k-marts are probably already near laundromats.
& managers probably noticed the laundromat customers coming in to shop before, during, after, or on other days (for laundry detergent, etc.).
so they might have figured that they might as well get a cut of the laundromat business.
for laundromat customers who run out of laundry detergent, they can buy a big container instead of the little 1-use vending machine containers.
