BP says it will pay cost of Gulf oil spill

Associated Press | BP says it will pay “all necessary and appropriate clean-up costs” resulting from the blown-out oil well that has caused a massive slick that continues to swell in the Gulf of Mexico.

    Well, of course, it’s their fault! They should also pay damages to the communities, especially the fishermen, affected by the spill.

    Yes, and they will pass the cost onto the consumers. And, since all the oil companies are in collusion with each other, gas prices from all brands will soar.

    @Tom:
    I agree, it will be the customers who will ultimately absorb the cost. Not a penny will come out of the executives’ pockets.

    Did BP have much choice under the Oil Pollution Act?
    However, since crude oil prices are set on a world market, I’m not so sure about Tom’s or Ed’s assertions. I even wonder if your local BP station can raise its price far above Shell’s or Marathon’s.
