The Problem Solver | The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and LaJobi Inc. on Thursday announced a voluntary recall of approximately 217,000 Graco-brand drop-side cribs because they pose entrapment and suffocation hazards.

The CPSC said customers should immediately stop using the cribs and should not attempt to fix them.

Crib deaths can be avoided if parents co-sleep with their babies!

Yes, naturalmama — then your baby dies when you roll over on top of it. About half of SIDS deaths occur when the baby is sharing a bed, sofa or sofa chair with another person. And even if the baby “cosleeps” safely, good luck putting your baby to bed when you’re not ready to go to bed, getting a good night’s sleep yourself, and later transitioning your baby to their own bed later in life when they’re old enough to freak out about that.

Pete: You’re so right. They won’t die in the crib if the parents sleep with them, they’ll die from suffication when the parents roll on them. Just recently in the Chicago Tribune was an article about that very same thing. Also, there usually isn’t another child after that one because your s*x life is so non-existant. I had a friend who’s baby slept with them 3 years and when they decided to put her in a big girl toddler bed, the child was terrified of being alone! It took 6 months or more for the child to finally sleep in her own bed.

what’s going on w/ all these dangerous cribs? IMO, cribs are now being designed solely for the parents’ sake. parent want high end cribs w/ all the bells and whistles and that can convert into 5 different beds as the child ages. may be safer to just sick a mattress on the floor and put the baby on that (plenty of children sleep right on the floor on a thin mattress or blanket w/o issue)
