ELITE STREET | By Bob Goldsborough | Publishing heiress Linda Johnson Rice, who is the chairwoman and chief
executive officer of Chicago-based Johnson Publishing, has just listed
her four-bedroom, 35th-floor condominium unit on Lake Shore Drive in the Gold Coast for $2.9 million.
Johnson Rice, 52, placed the 5,393-square-foot double unit on the
market on Monday. Her late father, John H. Johnson, founded Johnson
Publishing, which publishes Ebony and Jet magazines, in 1942. Johnson
Rice became the company’s chief executive in 2002 and took on the added
position of chairwoman after her father died in 2005.
In recent months, published reports have indicated that the privately held company is for sale, although officials have declined to comment.
Johnson Rice’s 10-room unit has six baths, one fireplace and a den with custom paneling that overlooks Lake Michigan. Other features include a large master suite, a large formal dining room and balconies.
Listing agent Katherine Chez of Coldwell Banker declined to comment on the listing.
First generation to make it, second generation to break it.
I hope she ends up living in a van down by the river! She’s a mean spirited snob.
Hey Craig! Stop being a Jerk. She has the right to act
any way she pleases. Don’t hate her because she’s black
and wealthy. Just becuase you live in a van that does not
mean others have to live by your standards. Furthermore
the reason wealthy folks are snobs in the first place is
to keep people such as yourself as further away as possible.
Have a great day.
