Associated Press | Boeing’s first-quarter profit topped
expectations and the aircraft maker says it still expects to deliver
the first of its new 787s by the end of this year. The 787 flew more than two years late, and Boeing is still putting it
through test flights. Some analysts have worried that delivery would be
pushed back to early next year.

The airplane maker and defense contractor says it earned $519 million during its first quarter, or 70 cents per share. That’s a drop of almost 15 percent from a year ago. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected a profit of about 63 cents per share.

Revenue fell almost 8 percent to $15.2 billion, which is about what analysts had forecast.
